RemDawg Posts: 4197 04/18/08 5:28 PM LOUD Dawg	Tags : None Wow, after 6 games the Rays have locked up Evan Longoria to a 6 year deal in the neighborhood of $17.5MM. That is moving quickly on a future star to keep him from having a Papelbon moment like this year and what is likely to be an ugly arbitration fight next year. Good for the Rays, looks like the new management may actually have a plan. Sants Thanks 5, 18, 45, 38, 34, 24, 33, 49 and 7 for 2004. Thanks 24, 34, 18, 33, 46, 59, 38, 19, 15, 25 and 7 for 2007. Thanks 8, 9, 27, 14, 19, 42, 39 and 21 for all the good years. Here's to back to back championships in 2008.

Papelbon is a pitcher and one that already has been shut down once. He wasn't going to lock in 4 for years at $12M either. He wanted a Beckett type lock up. The upside of Longoria after watching him play is so huge that it made this move easy. He clearly appears to be the best all around corner infielder of his generation.
