Hey Cali I have to wonder what your thoughts are about the Crystal thing the MFY's did. Do you think it jack-ass stupid as I do and a mockery of MLB? I
would think it just as dumb if it were the Sox signing Stephen King to a one day contract. So what if the guy is a huge fan! Let the guy hang around the club
shag flies etc. But to sign him to a one day MLB contract??? Come on. Just plain stupid.

I think people who are making this an issue are just silly. It's Spring Training. Who cares what goes on and what teams do? He's not the first one to
do this either, from what I've heard. So it happens. Just because the Yankees did it doesn't mean we should all automatically go crazy.

MFY, Phillies, Sox etc. Doesn't matter who it is a total publicity stunt. Like I said I wouldn't like it if the Sox did it. It is just silly
it's like a make a wish for celebs.

I found it kind of amusing. Really, what is the harm? Billy Crystal is a life-long Yankee (and baseball) fan. Just because he happens to be famous
doesn't make it any less exciting for him, he's still just a guy... c'mon Jack, if the Sox offered YOU the chance to play in one game for Spring
Training, would you refuse it as a publicity stunt, or would you jump at the chance?

But monkeys would probably fly out my butt before Theo would pick up the phone to offer me a one day contract. It was a stunt to kiss a celebrity's butt. I think it deminished the game and made it a bit of a spectacle. Bravo Cali.....bravo! Good point about what if a player got hurt or Crystal took one off the chin? This guy doesn't belong out there. Let the guy sit on the bench, take batting practice or shag fly balls. Forget the circus act.

Bottom line: Selig is a circus act...you can take the guy off of the used car lot but he is still not far from his roots. This is the guy that ultimately had
to approve this. Happy Birthday Billy Crystal...give me a *&^% break. Wait, let me see....1st and 3rd base coaches need helmuts but it is okay to basically
put a 'civilian' out on the field unprotected. Yeah I get it. NOT!
This is the same guy that wanted advertisements put on the bases a few years back. He is the guy that reinstated Georgie Steinwhinner after his predecessor had banned him for life. People either see Selig as the savior of baseball or the guy the owner's have in their pocket....I am in the latter camp. Sue
