Thinking about it though...his agent probably wants him to stay at 2nd base because it's much easier for him to be an All-Star every year at 2nd. If he were to move to the outfield or to short (especially in the american league), it would be much harder for him to be an all-star because of the competition at those positions, which means fewer endorsments and maybe less money come contract time.

I think Soriano would be agreeable to moving to SS, that's where he started and he had problems with the move to 2B when he came up. He has the range and the arm.

Here's what I was thinking of, from Washington POst Dec. 9 2005:

Soriano, who is considered a below-average defensive second baseman, has resisted previous attempts to move him to the outfield -- as the Nationals say they plan to do. If anything, his resistance could grow even more fierce given his impending free agency and the fact slugging second basemen have more value than slugging corner outfielders.

"I'm going to play second base," Soriano told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Thursday. "I don't think they want me to play the outfield. I think that if they traded for me, it's to play second base. Obviously I have the control. Of course I'm not going to play the outfield."

Doesn't specifically say he won't play SS. He might just wind up having to go where there's a job.

I would think he would be agreeable to moving to SS, being a more glamorous position and all, but don't you usually move players who are not very good playing SS to 2b, not the other way around? I know Jeter was blocking him from playing SS when he came up with NY but does anybody know what his glove was like at SS in the minors? Am I really seriously contemplating this?

This guy is in denial. He is not an infielder. He may not be an OF. He may be a DH. I could not be more shocked if anybody in the MLB gave him an every day job at SS.
