From what I heard out of Roger I get the idea he will decide if/when the Red Sox look like they have a legit chance to win it all. It doesn't sound like he is interested in playing just to play or get a paycheck.

Caution to all those investing emotional capital in a possible return of Roger Clemens.
It isn't ALL about the money but it has TONS to do with it and money will have more to do with why Roger would sign with anybody aside from Houston first and even the Rangers as a fall back. And unless the NYY FO has totally lost it I personally think while Roger is digging this new RS ownership group's efforts to kiss up, Roger has MORE positive emotion ties established with NYY's that are part of the franchise than just Nipper and Wake. |

I would love to see him come back now that he is "In the twilight" of his career Finish it up with us and also become the winningest pitcher in RS history.

I hope he will just step aside and let us win without him, thank you. He's just leading us on. Who needs it!!

Alright how many threads on Clemens do we need; for about the 90th time I would love to see Clemens come back so the Sox could retire his number and those who do not think this is a money game are sadly mistaken. He is waiting until May or June so he can come into a situation filled with money and pitch for a team that is going ot make a statement. He doesn't want to decide right now on a team like Houston or Texas because they're not going to do well and he does not want his career to end on a sour note and last year being in the world series could be the right time to walk away but dont' expect a choice any time soon and money and how the team is playing will be a huge, HUGE issue.

Quote:In this modern era the RS really need to rethink that legacy policy that reflected a very different era. In this day and age with this RS ownership group do we really think Yaz would have retired here? Should Boggs number not be retired? Slightly off topic but the policy of retiring a RS is very dumb. Quote:Of course it is and those who think not in a way are under estimating Roger to think he isn't working the process. That said I think Roger is seriously considering not coming back and that part is not working the bidders. He has VERY little left in his tank. He knows his place in history and part of it is that he has not stayed around too long. Rumors are his body hurts. While IF he works he will get every penny he can for it, he does not NEED the money. I still think that if he plays he most likely plays with Houston and their place in the standings may not mean as much as some think. First of all they have come from no where to make the playoffs both of Roger's years in Houston, so what can he gather in May about their chances? Also, rings he has, but love of the game is not just glory, it is playing. He can play anywhere but only in Houston does his home life remain in tact and he does get to display loyality (for once in his career) to an organization that has been good to him and just happen to have on of his "K's" in their minor league system. |
