Brady is the best QB in the NFL. Manning a close second and Palmer a close 12th. Thanks Patti.

12th may be a stretch, but I agree with the first 2.
I would rank Miami's Beck as fifth best in the league. (Yes, that is a joke, especially since he hasn't played yet) ------------------------------

I'm gonna throw stats out the window and compare based on what I have seen visually between the two. I have seen a smart QB in Brady who has a great arm and tremendous accuracy. With Palmer, I see flashes of brilliance but major inconsistencies.
So, from a visual standpoint alone, Brady is the better QB. ------------------------------

That video is a couple years old, I believe. I believe it was done for Saturday Night Life or one of those types of shows. Funny as all heck though. I could not see Brady doing that. And if he did, I just don't see him being that funny.

Quote: All anyone can go on is the actual stats. The actual stats say that Brady is the best QB in the NFL in 2007. There is no argument Jim, it is black and white. Brady has the best QB rating by far, he has the best completion rate by far, his TD to Interception rate is 5 times better than anyone else, he has beaten 5 teams (Jets, Chargers, Bengals, Boys & Skins)that were in playoffs last year or were supposed to be in the playoffs this year, Manning has only beaten two of those teams (Denver & New Orleans), Palmer has won two vs. playoff teams (Baltimore & Jets) and lost three (Seahawks, Pats and Steelers). This argument of yours would have been appropriate over the last 3 years, but not in 2007. Sorry, there is no gray area, Brady is the best this year. Next year may be different, but this is 2007. Brady may have the best stats this year, but that doesn't mean he's the best quarterback. The scheme the team is using is working well for him, but he's not the best.
Until there is a stat that actually tells which quarterback is best with the same offensive line, the same passing schemes, and the same defense, there will ALWAYS be "gray areas" as you call them. It's all a matter of opinion no matter who you think is best. 1. Carson Palmer 2. Peyton Manning 3. Brett Favre 4. Tom Brady That's my opinion, and you can't change it. |

The fact that you put Palmer above Manning show that you have no right talking about football or any knowledge of the game itself

Gotta agree with the other guys eek. You're smoking some strong stuff there. I find it convenient that the only thing you say can prove who is the best is the one thing that is impossible to produce. How convenient for you.
Speaking of which, I wonder what Marino would have been able to do with the team Brady has. Heck, he'd probably be winning by a margin of 50+ points per game. And I can say that because there is no way you can disprove it. ------------------------------

Thankfully I don't have to prove something that is just my opinion.
Over my years of watching football games, my eyes have seen that Carson Palmer is a better quarterback than Tom Brady, and if your eyes haven't seen that, then it's your opinion. I'm entitled to mine. Unfortunately, I don't see any black-and-white statistics in football that tell who the best quarterback is. Tom Brady didn';t look so good back when his offensive line wasn't very good, and Carson Palmer is dealing with that now, weekly. Brady has the best offensive line in football in front of him and has all day to throw. If Palmer did, his numbers would be better than Brady's. Thats my opinion, based on observation throughout their years of playing. |

Quote: They are littered all over the Statistics page. I suggest you open your eyes. You're not saying "Carson Palmer is my favorite QB", you are claiming he is the best. And unfortunately for you, there are statistics to prove he is not. If you choice to ignore those statistics, then so be it, that is your decision. But don't go claiming there is nothing to prove who is the best when there clearly is. If QB rating is the ultimate indicator since it takes everything into consideration, then you could argue that Palmer was a better QB in 2005 and 2006 because he had the better rating. And I would have a tough time defending that. But Brady was the better QB in 2004 and 2007 so far. You have a difficult time dealing with reality my friend. ------------------------------

"If QB rating is the ultimate indicator since it takes everything into consideration"
-sbukoski There IS no accurate reading of how good an offensive line is, of how good or bad a defense is, etc. that ties in with quarterbacking. I don't believe in quarterback ratings; they are not an accurate measure in my mind. Yes, I am talking about the overall best QB, not just this year. Brady is having a good year, but as I said before, he's got all day to throw too. |

Quote: You keep mentioning this, so it's time for someone to bring up that last year was the 1st year palmer was sacked more than brady (36 to 26), that's less than 1 per game and points to the lines not being much different. This year the difference is 2. You also keep avoiding the fact that you earlier said ypg was the measure and that you guaranteed palmer would have a higher rating than brady at years end. |
