At a very high price this guy better bring a championship with him.
I support two teams...the Red Sox and whoever beats the Yankees!.

well, i think they made themselves relevant and contenders to GET TO the finals, but they'll never beat the west.
Ainge has brought them full circle. |

awesome trade...still would have been a better team (albeit longterm) had the lottery not screwed us, but a very nice job by danny nonetheless

Celts looked great tonight against a good team. KG and Pierce were awesome and it was nice to see the Garden rockin. Back to relevance for the C's, they were feeling a little green watching the Sox and Pats over the last 7 years!!!!

I watched the game in spurts last night and was impressed. Having 3 players like that means one can have an off-night and you are still likely to win. Pierce will get a lot more clean looks at the hoop than he has in years past.

I used to absolutely love basketball and did attempt to watch a couple of games last year, but they did not hold my interest.
Last night was awesome. It was a great game to watch, excellent teamwork, and as Sants said, the place was really rockin'. And Tommy loved the defense!!! Certainly could make the winter more palatable to have some great basketball... Ruth "Some people just love to complain. I can't believe that I actually wasn't interested in the end of the Celtics game last night....BORING...because they were too good. How's that for turnaround?

Am I the only one here who is really paying attention to the Celtics? I am really enjoying this team. I actually look forward to their games. The defense is much improved. Even when the shooting isn't that great they've been able to stay in games and win. And I love a good buzzer beater!!!
Anyone else care? Ruth "Some people just love to complain. A goose could come and lay a golden egg on their desk, and they'd whine it wasn't big enough." - ParanoidAndroid, poster at rf.com

I've watched every game so far. They don't seem to play as well on the road, and I've noticed they can be pretty sloppy with the ball. But yes, it's been an enjoyable season so far.

Great to have something to watch when football season ends and before baseball begins. Although I don't think I've missed a game this year. Joan |

Oh Good....someone else is interested!!! I was talking to myself so I stopped posting. I do love this team. Paul Pierce has never looked happier....I don't remember him smiling in past years...now he's always happy and KG is always after the crowd to cheer.
Too bad they lost on Sunday....that last minute 3 point shot was LUCKY!!!! They worked so hard to come back without KG. Valiant effort... Ruth "Some people just love to complain. This is the Celtics thread for the ENTIRE season? I can only assume it's so empty because everyone is busy watching the games themselves.
You are not alone Ruth. I've been watching all season long (as usual), and I was at that game on Sunday. They had me twitching all game long, and the only stable point was when Mike Gorman ended up sitting about 10 seats away from me and I got to go see him during halftime. I'm still waiting for ownership to stop being dense and let Ainge sign an actual second point guard. They're willing to spend all this money to put together such an incredible core of players, but then they don't want to spend the exception until the Raptors start getting close. Rondo is either still bothered by his back or he's suffering from ADD lately and they can't survive on House and Tony Allen running the point. The great news is you can look at the team and say, "well, you know what the problem is, it's that backup point guard position." The rest of the Eastern Conference may as well start planning for 08-09 now. When their best competition needs a last minute lucky heave to beat the Celtics without their best player, it's over. It is so nice to be able to talk @#%$ about basketball for a change |

I've been following them this year as well (around my work schedule). Here's my best offering for now, in honor of Powe (with due deference and apologies to Poe), although I did take care to mention Garnett. Also sums my thoughts of some QUESTIONABLE CALLS this season.
The Whistles (part IV): Hear the tweeting of the whistles - Silver whistles! What a world of baffling calls their monody compels! In the fury of the game, How we shake our heads with shame At the melancholy menace of their tone! For every call that floats From the rust within their throats Is a foul. And the people ah, the people - They that dwell up in the bleachers, All alone, And who, cursing, cursing, cursing, In that roaring monotone, Feel an anger in dispersing Empty beer cups or a stone - They are neither man nor woman - They are neither brute nor human - They are Fans: - And the referee it is who whistles: - And he tweets, tweets, tweets, Tweets A paean from the whistles! And his angry eyebrows bristle With the paean of the whistles! Garnett dances, and he yells; Calling Time, Time, Time, In a sort of Celtic rhyme, To the paean of the whistles: - Of the whistles: Calling Time, Time, Time In a sort of Celtic rhyme, To the piercing of the whistles - Of the whistles, whistles, whistles: - To the screeching of the whistles: - Calling Time, Time, Time, As he kneels, kneels, kneels, In unhappy Celtic rhyme, To the tweeting of the whistles - Of the whistles, whistles, whistles - To the screeching of the whistles - Of the whistles, whistles, whistles, whistles, Whistles, whistles, whistles, - To the moaning and groaning of the whistles. Lisa You live and learn. At any rate, you live.

Yeah, Rondo probably has two Game Balls since Sunday, eh. He's still coming up gimpy, holding his back, but as long as he can keep this up for a week or so, he'll have the All-Star break off.

Couple of great games out West, but I've noticed a couple weaknesses so far, especially of late.
1) They are getting beat on the defensive boards fairly regularly of late. 2) They are pretty slopy with the ball at times 3) They are pretty darned bad at the free-throw line With all that said, the games they have lost have been good games. Teams are playing them very aggressively. You can see them getting up for each game. Now, I'd like them to actually win some of these games. ------------------------------
