Posts: 264 06/26/05 8:25 AM Rem Pup	Tags : None I had started a Soto thread earlier but it got wiped out during the attack. Needless to say Luis got off to a rocky start this year with Greenville and ended up back at extended spring training. He has resurfaced with Lowell and has gotten off to a good start with 7 hits in his first 19 at bats for a .368 ave. He has 4 RBIs in just 5 games. Let us hope that he will continue to play well here getting his confidence back after his poor start with Greenville earlier this year.

Posts: 264 07/03/05 8:44 AM Rem Pup	Luis after getting off to a strong start has slumped somewhat and has dropped to .271 with 13 hits in 48 at bats. He has only one extra base hit, a double. He does have 9 RBIs.

Posts: 264 07/22/05 12:41 PM Rem Pup	In his last two starts, Luis Soto has gone 4 for 7 and his average is starting to climb back.He is now hitting .264. In 108 at bats with the Spinners, he has 28 hits, 4 doubles,1 homer and 18 RBIs.

Posts: 264 07/24/05 7:50 PM Rem Pup	Soto went 1 for 3 last night and is 2 for 2 today. He has raised his batting average to .287 after falling to a low of .234 a couple of weeks ago. It looks like he may be on the right track this year, finally.

Posts: 264 07/28/05 1:22 PM Rem Pup	Luis Soto has begun to show why he has been such a highly rated prospect. This young 19 year old has faced considerable adversity this year and seems to be on the righ track now. In the past two weeks, he has raised his ave. from .234 to .292 as of Wed. July 27. He now has 5 doubles and 2 homers with the Spinners. His OBP is .382. We must remember he is still one of the youngest prospects in the system.

Posts: 264 08/16/05 11:10 PM Rem Pup	Earlier in the year when people were taking on prospects on a couple of boards, I looked at the Sox prospects saw that Papelbon and Soto had not been chosen and took them to report on. Naturally, I have been hoping that they would do well. We know that it looks like Papelbon is now with the Sox to hopefully stay after veginning at AA Portland. Soto was a different story. Rated as a top ten prospect at the beginning of year he was changed from a shortstop to a rightfielder and things went downhill from there. He eventually was taken off the team and reassigned to extented Spring Training. When Lowell began he started there and continued to struggle but since July he has been playing light out. To me he is the comeback story of the year in the Sox system just as everyone was ready to write him off. Many tend to forget he is still only 19 and one of the youngest players in the system. I quess when you adopt a prospect you sort of root extra hard for them or at least I do. Thanks for asking.

I understand how you feel about following a prospect - it's fun and when they develop it's exciting --- I like following minor league ball and am very excited about the revitalization of the RS system. I'll have to keep my eyes out for Mr. Soto (does he have a nickname?) Saw that he will be playingin NY Penn League All Star Game in Brooklyn on Tuesday (8/23). PS went to a Spinners game 3 weeks back and saw him. Have you been there? It's a great little park (new -- I think 3 years ago) --- very enjoyable going to a game there -- Clay Bucholz was pitching the day I was there -- I think they have high hopes for him?

Posts: 264 08/23/05 2:44 PM Rem Pup	Unfortunately I have not yet had the opportunity to go to a Spinner's game. I have been to a half dozen Sea Dog games in the past two years. Would like to plan a trip to take in Pawtucket,Portland and Lowell next year ending in Fenway. I will be in Portland this weekend on Fri - Sun and at Fenway on Sat to see the Tigers vs Sox. I am looking to forward to my second visit to both venues this year.

For awhile looking like it was going to be a Sox blowout to a game that showed just how bad the pitching on this team is. Thank God for the Sea Dogs on this weekend. And to win Friday nught's game with a bases loaded suicide squeeze to boot!
