Well, Abe Alvarez pitched 7 shutout innings and Cla Meredith struck out the side in the 9th for the save in Pawtucket's 3-0 win yesterday. Roberto Petagine hit his 9th homer and had 3 hits.
Both Alvarez and Meredith should be-- at the very least-- September call-ups, and I expect Meredith to be with the big team all year next year.
Petagine's production has bad timing with a glut at first base now (Olerud, Millar) but if he's needed, I feel sure he would do a good job if called up.
Sherrod seems to have his stroke going too, and I wonder if there are plans to make him a backup outfielder next year.
