I guess I hit the "vote" button too quickly (Premature clickage, as "Dilbert" would say) - my choice is "Mr. 3000." I'm positive that was Scott Williamson in there pitching at the beginning, but I saw no credit listed for him.

"The Natural" has my all-time favorite ending for a movie. I can watch that ending all day and still go nuts. It's not a baseball movie, but "Rudy" is a close second for endings.

"A League of Their Own" has a great cast. I think that Tom Hanks brought the whole movie together. Endless laughs and tears. It's a true story too.

The Natural is a work of cinematic art. The book is often used in 200 level English courses called the Hero in Western Lit. The Protagonist can be compared, believe it or not, with Beowolf. But the most entertaining, in my opinion is a League of Their Own. The ending still brings tears to my eyes. No crying in baseball indeed!

The Natural was fantastic. I watched it many times. Great acting by Robert Redford.

I just bought the DVD on sale at Target .
You know we are living in Bizarro world when the Natural is $7.99 but the latest Nic Cage movie is $22.95. |

Bull Durham is my alltime favorite baseball movie.
The only thing wrong with Bull Durham was that I didn't realize it was not the right movie to take my pre-teen son to. "the fans hang around and sing, 'I love that dirty water... Oh, Boston you're my home.'" - Sportswriter Rob Neyer on ESPN

For Love of the Game. Kevin Costner's most recent, and imho best, baseball movie. He throws a perfect game against the Yankees, AND it's a great love story to boot! Plus if you play the trivia game on the dvd, you get to see a cool old black & white movie of a pickup game where Babe Ruth steps in with a bunch of kids...
Of course I also love Field of Dreams and The Rookie and The Natural and Bull Durham and almost every other baseball movie out there... but if I have to pick one favorite, it's For Love of the Game. |

LOL Rookie of the year was a great movie the pitcher in it who's name escapes me ( the older mentor guy) reminds me of Kerry Wood
But i voted for Field of Dreams If you build it they will come "Larry Bird is not walking through that door, fans. Kevin McHale is not walking through that door, and Robert Parish is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be gray and old. ... And as soon as they realize that those three guys are not coming through the door, the better this town will be for all of us. ... All this negativity that's in this town sucks."

Quote:This movie brings back bad memories... when watching it at the theatre, I ate about 5 pounds of gummi bears. When the flick ended, I had to immediately run outside and puke all over the sidewalk. It was a funny movie though... the "bad guy", the guy who homers off the kid, reminds me of John Kruk. |

That kid in "Rookie of the Year" is the best pitcher the Cubs ever had. I bet Wood and Prior wish their arms would do that after all their injuries.

Although not baseball per se, I love the original Sandlot. Something about children and baseball. Plus it is quite funny. And what is it with James Earl Jones and baseball movies?

The sandlot is my alltime faverite sports movie...But a movie i saw when i was a kid that my mom rented once was also a good one...Little Big League. i mean how awsome would it be to inherit a ball club...even if it was the 1990's Twins...
Prolly the reason its my faverite is becouse unlike most sports movies of the time...it ended in dissapointment Becouse my faverite player of all time Ken Griffy Jr Knocked the team out of the playoff's with a Homer....love that part..lol |
