Pitching matchup
BOS: RHP Tim Wakefield (5-6, 3.75 ERA)
Wakefield limited the Yankees to four hits on Sunday night. He gave up just three earned runs -- including a solo home run to Alex Rodriguez -- through 6 1/3 innings. The knuckleball proved effective for five strikeouts, and he walked only one batter. He has not allowed more than three earned runs in any start since May 23 at Oakland.
BAL: RHP Radhames Liz (3-1, 5.94 ERA)
Liz is coming off his second-shortest outing of the season, an 11-10 loss to the Rangers on Sunday in which he lasted just 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs
on seven hits and five walks. He struggled with both his location and his control in that short start, throwing two wild pitches and missing his spot on a
three-run homer to right fielder David Murphy. The loss, however, was his first at the Major League level this season.
