Game 44: 5/17/08 vs Milwaukee, Matsuzaka vs Suppan |
Lead | ||
|
Twin bill today, game 1 at 3:55 on Fox and game 2 at 8:35.
Here's the matchup:
Red Sox: Matsuzaka is looking for his seventh win in eight starts this season. After a season-high eight walks on May 5 in Detroit,
Matsuzaka settled down last Saturday in Minnesota and issued three over his seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs while earning his second win of the
month. The right-hander will look to become the fourth Red Sox hurler this decade to start a season 7-0, joining Josh Beckett (9-0 in 2007), John Burkett (7-0,
2002) and Pedro Martinez (7-0, 2002).

Brewers: Suppan will be facing the team with which he broke into the Major Leagues in 1995 and spent parts of three seasons, going 7-9 with
a 6.10 ERA in 29 outings at Fenway Park. He will hope for better results as the Brewers begin Interleague Play and is coming off one of his best starts this
season, a seven-inning, one-run performance against the Cardinals at Miller Park. The win snapped Suppan's two-game losing streak.
Let's get this home stand off to a good start!

"Let's get this home stand off to a good start!"
..and hope that Suppan does his usual "stellar" job of years past in front of the Fenway Faithful. (I used to cringe when he was on the mound for us) Welcome home, Gabe! |

I am not complaining, I am just confused. That is not unusual. What has me confused is this: the afternoon game today is actually the game already scheduled
for the afternoon and fans use those tickets but the teams are going ahead with the rotation as it was established for last night. Then, the game scheduled for
last night will be played tonight using the tickets from the game postponed from last night with the pitching rotation being what was scheduled for today's
game (all of this is how I perceive the explanation on redsox.com). So, does that make the afternoon game #44 or #45 and likewise for the night game? Or, does
it make no difference at all? Have I managed to confuse anyone else LOL?

Is it possible that McCarver could know less about the rules of baseball?
He keeps talking about the Lugo bunt and how the ball was fair when it hit him. Unless I'm wrong, the runner has to be out of the box when the ball hits him. McCarver doesn't seem to care about that. He only cares that the ball was fair. Think I'm gonna mute it and put the radio on.

LOL ... my thoughts exactly about listening to the Faux Sports crew ... I am not sure who is worse to listen to ... McCrapper or Joe Morgan.
Anyway glad to see Lugo is ok but does he HAVE to be in the lineup ... (I say this just as he hits into another DP) I feel bad for the teams because of this game being on FAUX, it has to be played at the established air time, this game probably would have been played at 1 and then maybe a 7 p.m. start. Now it's pretty much going to be back to back because we all know how long Sox games are So I assume game 2 will be on NESN? But at least no rain and play ball! Sharon |

We needed this win, Dice-K had another good outing. As far as I know the second game is on NESN, both McCarver and Morgan are both terrible. I really don't
like watching when the game is on either FOX or ESPN I'd rather all the games be on NESN.
