What they did not note was Ramirez who hits to the opposite field with authority. He'd clearly be impacted too. It can be argued that Manny's 6 seasons in Fenway have cost him 30-50 career HRs because of how deep that RF is. If that field has gotten even tougher, for a guy going the other way that would be dramtic I'd think.
There was speculation that changes in Fenway could be impacting this just as the 406 Club addition had an earlier impact on HRs as well. Obviously with how big RF is a change in wind currents could have a big impact.
Not having been to Fenway recently and being a TV only observer, I was wondering if there were structural changes made last off season? I though the whole Conig's Corner thing was done prior to the 2006 season?
If the theory is true it explains a great deal of the power outages and how critical it is for Drew and Ortiz to hit more to the opposite field.
