Scouting Report: Red Sox: Beckett had just been rounding into form after coming off the disabled list when a combination of a cold and a stiff neck forced him to skip his last start. This will be Beckett's fourth start of the season. He has six walks and 16 strikeouts over 19 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .200 average. Beckett is 3-2 with a 4.26 ERA in five starts lifetime against the Rays. He is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA at Tropicana Field. Rays: The right-hander is coming off his second win of the year, in which Shields gave another solid mound performance. Although not his best outing, Shields tossed a solid seven innings in a 6-4 win over Toronto, allowing only two earned runs on six hits. The win was Shields' first since Opening Day in Baltimore, and extends his streak against the Blue Jays to 3-0. |
Althought the Sox did miss some of their spring training days in Florida, training presently falls into the fond memory category and NOW is the time to get back into the winning groove. An afternoon of demonstrating the best of Red Sox offense and defense is what the Team must bring to this game, and is what the Nation expects to witness. Go for it guys, and be sure your bats and gloves are well prepared!
