I was chatting with one of my friends yesterday and even know fever pitch is a romance movie and some guys won't go see it at all, its still about the boston red soxs, so im wondering what people thought of it or if they own it.

Here's an interesting factoid: There are actually some women who also do not enjoy romance films.

Just like there are some guys who don't like sports flicks.
I actually recommended Fever Pitch to a non Red Sox friend of mine based on the fact that it is a romance. |

Where is the option, saw it and thought it was the worst movie ever?

I had to pick 'saw it on PPV' when in fact hubby and I netflixed it. I'm not one for romantic comedies (and my husband hates Jimmy Fallon) so we were looking for the Sox connection only.
It was ok. It kind of bugged me to see a Boston (the Drew Barrymore character) chick who's about my age living in a freakin' luxury apartment and apparently a gazillionaire. Also all her friends seemed to be rolling in dough in a very big way. I think it was the first of the month and bills were due so that was bugging me a bit The bit where he decides who gets what tix was funny - have to give 'em that. Overall just a so-so movie. Probably worth having on in the background while you're housecleaning or something so you can catch the couple of funny bits but not have to hear all the dialogue with the vacuum running. |

Saw it, liked it, have it on DVD.
It's definitely not the greatest movie around.. but I thought it was cute. I bought it more for the Sox action than the actual love story. |

the fact that they actually won the world series during the making of the movie is one for the ages. Fate as it may be. Incredible, just incredible. Not a bad movie either,.

I'm one of the girls who liked it for the baseball content (some of the best parts were actually the deleted scenes of ben as a kid in fenway) but hated the lame romance part. I could have done with different actors too, but they did get some things right

I loked it for the Red Sox connection ...The best part was Tek, and friends in the bar eating and Jimmy fallon goes up to them.

Saw it in the movies and thought it was alright... bought the "Cursed Reversed" edition at a discounted price with free shipping (thanx RSN membership) because of the WS win connection... I recommend watching it with the Farrelly brothers commentary, it adds a bit of hometown/Sox fan feel to it.

I've always been a Drew Barrymore fan, however, the Red Sox story line is what made me buy it.

I am going to rent this thing at some point.....at least then I can fast forward through the inane parts... We bought it the day it came out. I love the part where he "confesses" to being a Red Sox fan, and she mentions that she had figured that out due to all the paraphenalia he owns, including the Yankee toilet paper. Cracked me up...

I saw it in the theater. The ending was too choppy and I hate to say this, but the movie would have worked better had the Sox lost. Not saying I wanted the Sox to lose, but the movie would have been better that way. Besides, that's how the book ended.

Besides, that's how the book ended.
___________________________________________________ Actually, wasn't the original book the movie is based on about soccer/football? Titled "Fever Pitch" by the British writer Nick Hornby? Pitch as in a football/soccer pitch -- the playing field in other words. It's funny about the movie as the original book has almost nothing to do with romance --the main character --based on Hornby's own experience as a fan, starts going to soccer games when his Dad cannot figure out what to do with him on the days he's supposed to take him out (Hornby's parents divorced when he was fairly young). So, the main character uses soccer fandom to fill a big gap in his life --makes up for the family life he does not have. The original book is much more satirical, biting, and functions as social commentary in a way that the RS film does not. But, hey, different objectives, I guess. okay, carried away ...... ;) Not a Hugh Grant fan ..... could you guess!? |
