Josh, sweetheart, we adore you, but clean up your language. My children are watching. And we CAN read your lips.

I blame television more than the players. Most players talk like drunken sailors. Television doesn't need to zoom in on the players. But then again,
baseball is such a slow sport they've gotta do something with the down time between pitches.

Honestly, I wish they would mike the players and you can actually hear what they say more often. There is a video on youtube of Earl Weaver arguing with an
umpire. I think it's funny.

Okay, by now it's obvious to everybody that I don't log in every day...
I know a lot of the players swear a blue streak, and it isn't like I haven't heard it all before. They also spit a lot, if you haven't noticed. My sons' current heros are Red Sox. The five year old has a poster of Beckett in his room. Baseball actively encourages kids to emulate their baseball heros, and I know the players try to be the kind of heros kids should want to be like. I want them to be the kind of heros kids want to be like. That's my only point. |

Baseball wants kids to emulate their baseball heroes but at the same time that isn't the demo that they are going after because if it was then you better
believe playoff games wouldn't start as late as they do. Instead they're going after the 18-35 year olds who can be up at that hour. And I really
cannot blaime players for acting out on the field, if they make a mistake you cannot expect at all for them to act like angels and just look at the camera and
grab a glass of milk and say oops my bad I'll get them next time. Now if they swear in an interview or something off the field that is something totally
different. Like going up to a kid and then swearing that's out of line but to do it on the field sorry there isn't an issue here.

I honestly think pro-athletes make lousy role models. Do you really to have your kids know about who Brady has dated or have them read the stories about Boggs
and Adams? How about the Lisa Olsen story? How many women did Wilt Chamberlin claim he slept with, 10,000?
As for some of us, we don't want to live in a sanitized world. Besides by the time the kids are in their teens, they will have heard it all anyway.

Ooh, you'd think I was trying to take your Andrew Dice Clay videos away from you or something.
As for baseball looking for the 18-35 male demographic, do you really think that Jon Lester worries about whether it's you or my granny in Sheboygan
watching the game? The people who want that demo are the broadcasters, because they can sell their advertising space for more $$, and the advertisers, who
want to sell you cars and beer. And here I thought the playoff games started so late because the Sox are playing on the west coast, not because big boys can
be up at that hour. If you were watching Tampa or Chicago, the games start in the middle of the aftenoon.

That is, unless Daddy is a drug addict who beats Mommy or Mommy is an unemployed drunk who sleeps around or some other messed up situation like that. Then, hopefully, the kids have other family members to be role models. Athletes are athletes. They should be role models...to their own kids...like other parents.

And it's not the broadcasters who care about that demo, we could care less it's the producers and the executives who care. And also keep inmind that the World Series games aren't on in the afternoon...nope they start just about 9 PM which is just about the time the Sox started last night and is the time when the Cubs will start tonight. And in response to if Lester cares, ummm yeah he probably does because that demographic are the ones who shell out tons of money to go to the games and drink the beer what not and that pays his salary.
