Yankees trade Kyle Farnsworth for Pudge Rodriguez.

Chicago White Sox will be acquiring Ken Griffey Jr pending his approval of the deal. No word yet on who the WS are giving up.

If either Hermida or Bay become Red Sox in a Manny deal, the Red Sox should MAKE THE DEAL!
They become an instant playoff team as soon as they trade Manny IMO. (And so does whoever gets him)

Getting Beltran would not help at all. This guy has been nowhere near worth his contract. At least Manny has produced consistently for the 8 years here. Beltran has been an average player for all 3 years of that deal so far. The fact that we could have had Tex for Youk and Hansen last week should have been done immediately. Trading Manny to FLA as the rumors are currently would not get much in my opinion, unless we are getting the other Ramirez back.

Mark Teixeira is a big improvement over Kotchman, especially power-wise, but also even defensively.
This may be the year of the Angels if they can stay healthy!

Delcarmen was much better last year down the stretch, I think Masterson will help. They still need another arm out there.

Remember 2004??
The pitching got hot down the stretch, and made numbers that were mediocre up to that point turn into a good bullpen.
I'm not worried about the bullpen. Okajima has returned to his old self, Delcarmen is the same pitcher as last year, ditto Javier...

I remember this time last year, many of us were bemoaning the fact that Theo did nothing during trade time. And they won a World Series. I think the problems are way more serious this time around, bullpen for example, but it makes me think that things are going to remain as is for now. Hope Theo proves me wrong and does something about the bullpen.

Beats me. I think some teams are just flat out destined to be mediocre. Pittsburgh is a prime example. They gave away two solid players for essentially crap. Maybe the prospects are suppose to be good? I don't know.

I remember reading somewhere a while back that Cora wasn't real happy with his playing time. Lowrie is ok, but his fielding isn't prime time IMHO.

Boston.com has reported tonight that the RS have backed away from this deal. I couldn't understand either why they would do this.

"While the Red Sox examined whether to pursue White Sox shortstop Juan Uribe, major league sources indicate the team backed away from a possible deal to acquire him.

The Red Sox really like the job done by Jed Lowrie and feel that Alex Cora can be an adequate backup to Lowrie until Julio Lugo returns to the seen sometime in mid-August....

Cora's brother is a coach for the South Siders, and the Sox might be looking for a solution to Lugo being gone a while. That's my guess.
