Brenda, that would be a great idea, but we pull out on Friday. I actually just started a non-fiction book called "One Day at Fenway," about a Red Sox - Yankees game in August of 2003. Can't remember the author, but after chapter 1, I am hooked!

I don't know what your traveling plans are right now, but if you're going to be staying put for the time being, you can always go to your local public library and check out the new Evanovich book or put your name on the reserve list. That way you don't have to wait for the paperback. I discovered the Stephanie Plum books last summer. I've never laughed so much while reading a book!!

OOO, thanks for letting me know about this, I didn't know she had a new one! Although I'll probably wait until it comes out in paperback. Her books are very entertaining but I read them so quickly, and only once, that I can't see paying full hardcover price for them...

Just finished Charlaine Harris' "From Dead to Worse." Working my way through Jim Butcher's "Dresden Files" series of books, and also reading Mike Lowell's book, which is pretty good. Wonder who the reporter is that he refused to give interviews to? CHB perhaps?

Looking forward to the new "Fearless Fourteen" in Janet Evanovich's series next week. And Philip R. Craig's latest book "Vineyard Chill". Sad to say Craig passed...

Brenda, I saw an excellent biography on Joni Mitchell that is available on DVD - it also gave a lot of background about the times (and her relation to CSNY etc.) Very interesting.

I didn't know that book existed ("Girls Like Us") and being a huge Carol King fan, I'm definitely going to read that.

Also just finished "Girls Like Us" by Sheila Weller. Kind of a biographical triology/social history about Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Carly Simon. Excellent! Well written. I highly recommend it to all soft rock/folk music buffs, ex-hippies, and young people today who want to gain more insight into the social and musical times of the 60's and 70's.

Actually I have a correction. It's "RV Vacations for Dummies" that we're currenty reading, but Rob does want to get the other one next. As far as moving East, yes we are but not as far as we thought we would be. Rob is going to be a tenure-track professor of Political Science at Mississippi State University beginning in January. We put our house on the market on May 1st, expecting it to take a couple of months (at least) to sell, but the 1st people who looked at it made...

I am so glad you are moving east. I cannot, however, even begin to imagine moving across the country, RV or not! This place is way to full of decades worth of accumulation. You are wise to consult the "literature!"

Thought I would bump this up to mention that I am reading Mike Lowell's new book, Deep Drive. It lets you in on a lot about what makes Mike the man and the player that Red Sox fans love. He thinks a lot of us and of the team as well.

I am reading the Four Trials by John Edwards (yeah that guy). I am really enjoying it...funny on the back cover there is a couple of short reviews....one by John McCain, one by Richard North Patterson and one by Edward M. Kennedy.

As many of you know my dad passed away this past December and I have had a difficult time coping.I am doing better but much more so now that I read "90 minutes in Heaven) by don Pieper. It was recommended to me by a friend who lost his 17 yr old son last year. I recommend for anyone who has lost a loved one.

Just finished Stephen King's "Duma Key". For those of you that like his writing, I would highly recommend it. Took me a while to finish it, since I only read for maybe an hour or so when I go to bed, and it was a long one. I really enjoyed it and hated to see it end, the character development was so well done, and like I said earlier in this thread, it reminded me of his writing early on in his career. Such a great writing style in this one. So now, off to bed and figure out what to...

I haven't read Lisey's Story yet, but I do have it. I got on a Charlaine Harris kick and read a bunch of her stuff and other books have been piling up I know how you feel about books you can't even get into. I've done that a couple of times, just didn't even finish them they were so bad.

I bought The Appeal too; it's got good reviews and I always like...

Did you read "Lisey's Story" by Stephen King? I could not get into it. I ended up giving the book to my son's girlfriend who is a voracious reader(just like me!)
I am just about to start "The Appeal" by John Grisham.

I just finished "Pillars of the earth " and World without End" by Ken Follett.....Loved them both. (and I usually don't like what Oprah likes!)

I've just started Stephen King's new book, Duma Key. I liked his earlier stuff better than the later, and this one seems to be more like the earlier books. I'm liking it so far.

Before that, read William Tapply's latest Brady Coyne (lawyer, set in Boston) book, and J.A. Jance's Web of Evil. Next in the queue, T is for Trespass.

Somewhere, buried deep on the board, is a similar topic so I thought I'd start a new thread. Summer's coming and when I'm not watching baseball, I'm reading. I'm sure plenty of other dawgs do the same so now is a good time to share our favorites and get a few ideas for some summer reading.
For those of us of a certain age, I just read "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson. It's about being a kid during the fifties in America and it's the funniest book I have...
