Have the Sox Lost some Appeal?

It's a simple question: Are you less interested in the day to day happenings of the Red Sox now than you were in 2004?

I was reading that while the ratings for Sox games on NESN is still higher than any other market in MLB, it is down 7% from 2008. Also, the number of posts on this board have fallen like a rock over the past couple seasons. Maybe this internet site has run its course, but I think there is more than just that.

Sad but true here at my house...no Red Sox baseball is the official start of fall. I have to say I'm disappointed, but not surprised that the hometown boys couldn't pull off a win against the Halos. They had something to prove, and they did it in fine fashion with their come from behind win today, culminating in a sweep of this series. Despite losing 5 games in a row, they finally clinch the wild card tonight! Congrats and hopefully, they can win a game between now and Columbus Day.

2010 Schedule Released

The 2010 Red Sox schedule is out. The open and close their schedule with a home series against the Yankees. However, since they play the NL West this year, they make three trips to the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones with road series against Colorado, San Francisco, Anaheim, and two road series against Oakland and Seattle. Too bad they don't get FF mileage for their time in the air.

Odds are thye 1st game would be moved to Sunday Night for ESPN. After all, they love anything...

Wagner to join RS Bullpen, impact?

On the surface of things one would think that a pitcher of Billy Wagner's capabilities could only enhance the RS BP. While Okajima has been very effective this year against LH hitters historically he was much more "balanced" than he has been this year.

Okajima's splits career wise were that he had an OBA of .190 against LH and a very impressive .221 versus RH. This year however he is much better versus LH than RH (.152 LH v .268 RH). He also walks a lot more RH...

Youkilis suspended 5 games

Personally I think he got off light throwing the helmet and all..... What would you do if you were the Sox? Youk appealed it but when should he drop the appeal? ( I do not think it will be reduced) I say he should finish the Tigers series then play the first two games in Tx and drop the appeal that way he will only miss one Tx game the Toronto series and only one Yankee game.

Anyone else got ideas???

Starting tonight with the NYY the RS play first or second place teams for 18 of their next 21 games. Add the Rays in who are the best third place team in baseball and that is 20 of 23 games against upper tier competition.

Many rumors flying around.... Clay for Victor Martinez is the most interesting one I have heard But with Smoltz not doing well I hate to give up a good young pitcher.

According to WEEI's Alex Speier, the Pirates will receive shortstop Argenis Diaz and right-hander Hunter Strickland from the Red Sox for Adam LaRoche.

Diaz, a 22-year-old Venezuelan, is batting .253/.309/.310 with no home runs, 24 RBI and seven stolen bases this season for Double-A Portland. He has a great glove, but may never be a good enough hitter to land a starting gig in the majors. Strickland, 20, is 5-4 with a 3.35 ERA and a 51/13...
